Singing Competition in Kansas City
11th Anniversary of KC SuperStar - Annual Fundraiser for The J
What is KC SuperStar?
Now in its 11th year, KC SuperStar is The J's Annual Fundraiser. This entertaining gala supports our J community as well as young performers in Kansas City. Our city has some of the most artistically talented citizens and KC SuperStar celebrates that with an “American Idol” style singing competition in Kansas City, awarding the most talented high school singer with the $10,000 Edward and Ellen Rose Scholarship, as well as prizes for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners, totaling over $22,000!
More than 200 students audition to compete, up to 24 singers make it to the Semifinals, and only 10 finalists are selected to continue on to the Finals by a panel of professionals in the music and theatre industries.
At the August 23rd Finals, the audience enjoys a high-energy show by the students and ultimately selects the winner via electronic voting. And the support doesn't stop there. Your support helps us cultivate a sense of belonging, encourage a healthy lifestyle for everyone at any age, provide education and enrichment, and continue to build upon the strong community we are.
Congratulations to Maurissa Cunningham!
