Class Descriptions

 

Tiny Tots

Tiny Tots is for children age 3 and focuses on exploring movement with dance, props, and silly songs. Students will learn body control & will gain muscle strength. For students who turned 3 after the Fall deadline for classes. Ballet shoes required.

Creative Movement

For ages 3-4. Combing fun music, props and ballet basics, students will enjoy learning through imagery, movement and play. Ballet shoes required.

Kinder Tap + Ballet + Jazz

Kindergarten students learn basics of ballet, jazz and tap. Girls need pink ballet shoes, boys black ballet shoes; all need black tap shoes. All students must wear dance attire.

A Note About Levels

Dancers are placed in classes based on a combination of dance experience and age. We use the following age range and take dance ability into consideration, as well:

  • Level 1: 1st-3rd Grades
  • Level 2: 4th-7th Grades
  • Level 3: 8th Grade +
  • Acro levels are based on age and the requirements of the Acrobatic Arts syllabus

 

Level 1 Tap + Ballet + Jazz (Summer)

An awesome class to get those feet moving and bodies groovin’! Students are exposed to ballet, tap and jazz. Open to both boys & girls, all students must wear dance attire.

Lyrical combines elements of ballet and jazz to develop expressive, strong dancers. Recommended for 1st - 4th graders.

Lyrical combines elements of ballet and jazz to develop expressive, strong dancers. Recommended for grades 5th-8th or by audition. Dance attire and dance shoes required. Hair must be pulled up.

PrePointe (Summer)

Students must be enrolled in advanced ballet twice a week and have teacher's permission to enroll in PrePointe. Pointe shoes will be earned by the instructor's judgement. Dance attire and dance shoes required. Hair must be pulled up.

Level 1 Jazz + Hip Hop

An awesome class to get those feet moving and bodies groovin’! Students are exposed to classic jazz and new-age hip hop. Open to both boys & girls, all students must wear dance attire. Tan jazz shoes required.

Level 2-3 Jazz + Hip Hop

Class recommended for 3rd-5th grade and up. Students will need tennis/hip hop shoes and tan jazz shoes. Dance attire and hair pulled up for each class. Shoes available for order through Encore.

Level 2 Tap + Ballet

Ballet and tap classes for Level 2 students. Dance experience recommended, but not required. Please speak to Maggie if you are interested in only taking tap or ballet. This is the only combo class with the ability to be separated. Dance attire and dance shoes required. Hair must be pulled up.

Level 3 Ballet

Students focusing on technique, strength and continued growth. Recommended for 5th grade and up. Dance attire and dance shoes required. Hair must be pulled up. 

Level 3 Tap

Dance where the rhythm is kept with the noise of the dancer's feet. Previous tap experience required. Recommended for grades 5th and up. 

Level 4 Jazz + Hip Hop

Students will need tennis/hip hop shoes and tan jazz shoes. Dance attire and hair pulled up for each class. Shoes available for order through Encore. 

 


 

Acro/Tumbling

Encore is certified in Acrobatic Arts, a nationally recognized tumbling and acrobatics curriculum for acrobatic dance. Focusing on 5 elements- strength, limbering, tumbling, balance & flexibility- students develop skills in a safe and well-balanced way.

Trial + Drop-in Classes + Late Enrollment + Attendance

Not sure if your child is ready for dance/tumbling yet? Drop in for a trial class, for only $15. After your child has experienced a class and decides they would like to continue dance or gymnastics, their drop in fee will be applied to their full enrollment fee. Students who join late will be charged the drop in rate per class for the remaining semester.

Students enrolling late for the semester or students who miss more than 2 classes a month may be required to purchase and participate in additional private lessons to catch up with the progress of their classmates.

 

Tiny Tumbling

For ages 2-3. This class is geared towards our little movers and a guardian. We encourage students to shake their sillies out while exploring gross motor skills.

Students will work on Acrobatic Arts Level II-III, building on the primary & Level I. No shoes, hair pulled up and dance attire required.

Performance Team

Performance Team is a class available for students in 1st-8th grade. The group performs 4-5 times throughout the year in the community. The goal of the group is to build our confidence in our performance ability, as well as to share the joy of dance with others. Students must be enrolled in at least one other Encore class to participate in Performance Team. Performance Team focus on the dance and does not work on technique during rehearsal times. The students on Performance Team are seen as leaders at our studio. They must lead by example, and know that they are a part of a team. Students are expected to be at class, and may not miss the rehearsal before a performance or they will be asked to sit out the performance. Performance Team costumes are provided for a rental fee. All students must have tan slip on jazz shoes. Dance attire and dance shoes required. Hair must be pulled up. Audition required.

Competition Team

For students who want to compete in dance locally and regionally: solos, duos, trios, and possibly small groups. Extra rehearsals/private lesson fees, choreography fee, entry fees, costume & make up fees. Students will participate in 2-3 competitions during 2nd semester and highest scoring solos will perform at recital as well as team pieces. Competitions take place on the weekends. Please contact Maggie for the competition packet to inquire about fees, scheduling and additional requirements. Audition required.

Summer Team Class! (3rd+)

For competition or pre-compete students. Working on skills and tricks to prep for competition season. Must have Jazz shoes. Last 30 minutes will focus on turns.

Adult Tap

Dust off your old tap shoes or come try it out for the first time! Drop in for $15 per class or sign up for the whole session!

Private Voice Lessons

Our voice lessons are all private one-on-one instruction. Students sing all kinds of music from classic tunes to their favorite artists. Students will learn in how to breathe properly, how to increase their range, proper pitch, how to project and stage presence. The lessons are 30 minutes long and meet weekly. If you are unable to attend your private lesson, a make-up class can be scheduled, given 24 hours in advance. Any “no shows” are not available for make up classes. Students will have the opportunity to perform in an informal showcase in December and May.

Encore! offers private music lessons for students of all ages and abilities from beginners to advanced students. Our music lessons are all private one-on-one instruction to ensure understanding and focus for the students. The lessons are 30 minutes long and meet weekly. Students can choose their own course of study, from piano, harp, steel drum violin and guitar*. If you are unable to attend your private lesson, a make-up class can be scheduled, given 24 hours in advance. Any “no shows” are not available for make up classes. Students will have the opportunity to perform in an informal showcase in December and May. Our Lessons are all private however parents are welcome to sit in on their child's lessons.
