Winter Weather Policies for CDC and School-Age Children
CDC Snow Days
When the forecast calls for wintery weather and the determination has been made that we can offer limited care, the CDC opens at 9:00 A.M. for Critically-Needed Care only. Please keep your child home if at all possible. Due to long distances and dangerous travel conditions, we often have a shortage of teachers on these days. Check office numbers for information: 913-327-8050, 913-327-8051, 913-327-8052.
School-Age Children Snow Days
A Snow Vacation Day program may be offered when area schools are closed for inclement weather. The J Management staff will determine if the program will be open and the hours of the program based on weather conditions. Check The J website to see if a notification has been posted, and what the hours will be. Call 913-327-8098 or 913-327-8079 if you have questions.
The cost for the Snow Vacation Day is $40 for members and $60 for non-members. Payment is required for participation.
Each child needs to bring a lunch, please no pork or shellfish. Children do not need to be part of the After-School Care program to attend on a Snow Day.
If the weather conditions worsen during the day, the program availability may change. The J does not call the media regarding the availability critically needed care on snow days. Please watch The J website for updates.
EARLY SCHOOL CLOSINGS DUE TO WEATHER OR OTHER EMERGENCIES
Due to the last-minute nature of these events, the After-School Care program staff will work with 10/10 Taxi to provide transportation. Please be patient as weather conditions may cause increased travel times.
