The J offers educational and spiritual programs for seniors in Kansas City that are designed to increase social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Most of the following programs are included with Heritage Center Membership and Senior Membership at The J.

 

Book Club

Free for Heritage Center Members Only

Books are provided by the Heritage Center through the Johnson County Library. A new title is distributed at each meeting and discussed at the next. Join Kathy Boutros in this interactive offering and enjoy being one of the first to read some of the best books released!

Tech Time: Web Help

Free for Heritage Center Members Only

Do you need an introduction to Facebook? Are you wondering what Instagram and Snapchat are? Do you need a hand downloading apps onto your phone or tablet? Or are you just needing help navigating your way through the basic setup and use of your phone? If you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers. Get help with these and many other technological conundrums from J staff members and volunteers. This time is designed to offer tailored help regarding questions you have surrounding the internet, social media, e-mail, texting, and mobile devices. No device repair is offered.

This course for Russian speaking students introduces the basic structures and vocabulary of the English language through the skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students learn strategies in order to advance their reading, listening, and pronunciation skills. Instructor: Svetlana Sorkin

Medicare & You

Free for Heritage Center Members Only

Anyone about to turn 65 or already receiving Medicare should attend this class. The class will be taught by Larry Green, HIA, MHP, a retired 40-year veteran of the health insurance industry, specializing in regulatory compliance. Larry will discuss Medicare eligibility and enrollment, Parts A and B of Medicare, Prescription Drug Program, Medicare Supplements and Medicare Advantage Plans. Please bring your Medicare handbook(s). Pre-register at the Heritage Center (913) 327-8044
