Youth Softball in Kansas City

Ages 3+

The J is proud to offer girls youth softball in Kansas City. While this program continues to grow, we continue to offer the same great experience for youth in the area who want to learn the game, develop their skills, and play in a fun yet competitive environment. J Softball has a neighborhood atmosphere. If you want to win at all costs, this isn't the right community, but if you want a positive softball experience, J Softball is for you!

In the Spring of 2018 we opened our new turfed fields in partnership with C U in The Major Leagues and Kansas City Christian School. The softball complex is comprised of five lighted fields including three turf fields. There are no game admission fees or parking fees.

Teams are forming now for Spring/Summer from T-Ball to Senior (7th-8th Grade) and everything in between.

Great for kids Kindergarten - 8th Grade
J Softball is a recreational youth girls softball program open to children from all over Kansas City. For the 2020 season, official team practices will begin the week of March 30 with games starting the weekend of April 17. Regular season games will be played through June 23 with time time for make-up games June 24-30.

New for 2020, post season tournaments for Senior 4th grade and older teams will take place July 7-12. These tournaments are included in the league fee, but participation is optional.

While most league games will take place at The J, practice fields will be at Shawnee Mission schools and Overland Park City fields. Practice fields are allocated at a coaches meeting in mid-February.

All players register individually and may request a coach, if they are a part of an existing team; or select "free agent" if they would like to be placed onto a team. Teammate requests are accepted.

Individuals and teams (whether partial or complete) are welcome to join J Softball. Please note that we are offering a new division for 2020. We are offering a combined 4th/5th grade division as well as a combined 5th/6th grade division. Stronger 5th grade teams are encouraged to consider playing in the 5th/6th grade division.

Coaches may choose which division their team will participate in, while free agents may request which division they would prefer. Teams will be combined into one division if there are not at least 10 teams within an age group.

Most games are played at The J, conveniently located at 115th and Nall in Overland Park. Restrooms and concessions are located on site. In addition, J Staff is present at all games, providing supervision and assisting as needed. Each paid registration includes a uniform (jersey and cap/visor) and award. The League also provides each team with a practice and equipment (including a Pitching Machine for Junior Division teams).
