What are the age categories for the team triathlon?
Team members totaling 27 years old and under compete on the intermediate course. Team members totaling 28 and over compete on the long course.
Where does the triathlon take place?
The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City, which is conveniently located at 115th and Nall - Get Directions. The indoor pool is reserved for competitors 8 years old and under, and the outdoor pool is utilized for competitors 9 - 17 years old.
The parking lot will be closed to vehicular traffic. The J thanks Sprint for the use of their property, allowing us to stay off city streets.
USA Triathlon Information (Important)
This event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. All youth participants must be a member of USAT. One day race membership is $10 or $15 for a one-year membership and must be purchased in advance of the race or at orientation. A major benefit for parents is that they will not be required to attend every race registration to sign their child's USAT waiver. With the ONE TIME payment, youth triathletes will be eligible to compete in ALL triathlons for the remainder of their annual membership. Visit USAtriathlon.com to purchase youth membership online.
What are the age divisions for awards?
Tri for Tots (ages 4 & 5)
8 years old and under (short course)
Ages 9-10 (short course)
Ages 11-14 (long course)
Teen Elites (ages 15-17)
Relay (team members ages totaled):
27 and under (short course)
28 and up (long course)
NOTE: Pursuant to USA Triathlon Rules the age of an athlete is his or her age on December 31 of the year of the event.
What safety measures are being taken?
Safety is a primary concern. ANSI or Snell approved bike helmets are required during the bicycle portion of the event. Radio/stereo headsets are not permitted. J Staff and event volunteers are strategically placed throughout the course to assist, direct traffic, and ensure the safety of all participants.
Due to hot and humid conditions that may exist during this time of the year, please drink plenty of water before and during the event.
Can I assist my child during the race?
Parents must refrain from entering the transition area and the course while the event is in progress. Any parent assisting a child will result in disqualification. Parents are welcome to cheer from the sidelines.
If my child decides not to participate, can I receive a refund?
There are NO refunds nor transfers of entries to another participant. You can still receive your t-shirt and goodie bag.
Anything else I should know?
All participants will receive a race t-shirt, goodie bag, and an award. Stick around after the Triathlon for a Post-Race Party with food, music, and fun. Tri it this Summer!
