Youth Triathlon in Kansas City

For children Ages 4-17, with age-appropriate groupings

The Youth Triathlon in Kansas City at The J provides a fun and healthy opportunity to help children stay active this summer. By combining swimming, biking and running in one sport, participants benefit from well-rounded fitness workouts, enhancing their endurance and strength, and having a lot of fun!

This J event is a fun way for children with wide ranges of experience, from novice to serious athlete, to participate individually or as part of a 2-3 person team. You won't want to miss food, music, fun and an award for every participant!

It’s our sad duty to inform you that, despite our best intentions and efforts up until the 11th hour, we will not be able to have our annual Youth Triathlon this summer. Though we hope the worst of the COVID-19 impact has passed, two factors finally made our decision for us.

  • Most triathlons and races are also canceling or deferring until at least August or later and with schools hopefully starting back up we didn’t feel we should host an event during that time.
  • While we were planning on extraordinary safety measures for participants, volunteers, staff and spectators, we simply can’t provide an environment that is completely safe, especially with an event as large as this.

We are so sorry that we will not be able to put on this great event for your kids this year. Please encourage your kids to stay active and healthy this summer and know The J’s outdoor pool is now open. For more information visit TheJKC.org/WelcomeBack.

The Youth Triathlon at the J is open to youth 4-17 years of age
(NOTE: Per USA Triathlon Rules, the race age for an athlete is his/her age on Dec 31 of the year of the event).

Packet Pickup and Race Orientation

If you have already participated in the Youth Tri you do not need to attend the orientation. 

If you are new to the Youth Tri, parents and participants are REQUIRED to attend a pre-race orientation session.

Summer Training: Triathlon Camp at The J

This two-week session during J Camp will equip your triathlete with the training they need to be ready to compete in this annual event. Daily running, morning swimming, and bike safety and conditioning are included, plus all the fun of J Camp activities.
