Yoga is defined as the joining of dynamic breath with postures and awareness, and combines all the following:

  • The cardiovascular stamina of running
  • Dancing's flexibility and balance
  • The strength of weight training
  • Meditation's centering and peace of mind

Non-competitive by nature, yoga holds the promise of youthfulness and a higher quality of life by challenging us mentally and physically.

Our yoga instructors have over 30 years of yoga training to complement their many years of dance and fitness industry experience.

Through fun and flowing routines, they will help you:

  • Sculpt your body
  • Quiet your mind
  • Lower your stress
  • Increase your energy level, flexibility, strength and confidence.

Youth Yoga 

Ages 9 - 13

This basic Yoga class is designed to help all young yogis, regardless of their experience, improve their flexibility, balance, joint mobility & breath awareness.

Wednesdays 4:30 - 5:15 pm | Upcoming Dates: TBD

Types of Yoga in Kansas City

The J offers distinct types of yoga for different purposes and preferences:

Hatha Yoga Basics

  • Poses that increase balance, flexibility and circulation
  • Enhances relaxation, toning and strength
  • Best for those with sports injuries, high blood pressure, arthritis and lower back problems
  • For all levels, including beginners

Hatha Yoga

  • 90 minutes of balancing and strengthening
  • Limits the effects of illness, injury and aging
  • For all levels, including beginners

Vinyasa

  • Sequenced postures that connect breathing and movement
  • Emphasizes strength and flexibility to focus and calm the mind
  • Best for those with experience and seeking a workout

New! PLYOGA and Yoga Sculpt

  • PLYOGA combines plyometric cardio bursts with yoga pose holds for a tabata-style full-body workout.
  • Yoga Sculpt incorporates light to medium free weights with yoga movements to engage your muscles even more!
  • Best for those with experience and seeking a workout
