Dan Thomas is a dedicated performer and educator. Although a regular in the Kansas City jazz scene, Thomas performs throughout the United States, Canada and overseas in a variety of settings covering the spectrum of the jazz idiom. He is a frequent clinician and guest artist at high school and university jazz festivals. His Dan Thomas Quintet CDs, City Scope and Musical Sanctuary, and his Quartet release Voyage, are receiving critical acclaim and were acknowledged on the national airplay charts.
The show resonates deeply with the Jewish DNA, by portraying the harsh conditions of rural shtetl life for Jews in the Pale of Settlement in Russia during the early part of the 20th Century. Mr. Thomas’ care for this music, and his willingness to play this repertoire in the Jazz genre will provide an evening of excitement for all those who love Fiddler, its message, Jazz, theater, and music in general.
