Movie Viewing + Talkback Session with Kansas City's Israeli Emissary, Tal Shabo.
This story deals with a Druze wedding and the troubles that the politically unresolved situation creates for the personal lives of the people in and from the village. The movie‘s plot looks at the Arab–Israeli conflict through the eyes of a family divided by political borders, and explores how their lives are fractured by the region‘s harsh political realities.
After the show, we will discuss the Israeli policy with the Golan after the Six Day War and the legal position of the Druze who live there. Tal Shabo, 23, was born and raised in Givat Zeev, a suburb of Jerusalem. Tal was part of the same pre-army academy (mechina) as our former emissary, Daniel Rivin. Tal then served in a combat engineering unit in the IDF, and has since been leading a “young diplomats” informal education program for high school students in Rishon LeZion.
